Case Study: VH1 Save The Music Foundation
VH1 Save The Music (STM) partnered with UpMetrics to measure the impact of its core music grant in St. John The Baptist Public Schools. While the grant allows the district to establish music programs for its 5th-8th graders, it also provides STM the opportunity to assess music education as an academic intervention. This study focuses on two schools, John L. Ory Magnet and Emily C. Watkins Elementary, and the potential impact of music participation.
In this initial analysis, student-musicians exhibited more positive behaviors and performed better academically than their non-musician peers.
Case Study: just keep livin Foundation
UpMetrics and just keep livin' Foundation partnered to examine the academic and behavioral performance of students that participated
in JKL programs at Animo ING and Animo South LA schools for the 2016-17 school year.
The study found that participants outperformed their peers in GPA and ADA, and in addition, found that students who participated in JKL events more often had greater gains.
"The GRAMMY Music Education Coalition is grateful for a partnership with UpMetrics in which we will work with major American school districts to clearly and transparently report young people's participation in music in school."
