What Happens When You Approach Collaboration with Intention,
Part Two Tuesday, October 19th, 2:00-2:45 PM EST with Kaci Y. Patterson from the Black Equity Collective and Stephen Minix from UpMetrics |
There is one thing that nearly all foundations and nonprofits that took part in a recent survey from UpMetrics agree on, and that is that there is additional opportunity for collaboration between funders and grantees.
Where it gets more complicated is the follow up question: what does “opportunity” mean? The same survey shined a light on a lack of alignment across philanthropic organizations when it comes to where participants felt collaboration could have the largest impact as well as the most important contributing factor to a “strong” collaborative relationship.
One thing we do know is that trust-based, collaborative relationships that encourage knowledge sharing and transparency are the key to tackling today’s complex challenges in our local communities and nationwide. By shining a light on current gaps in communication or expectations between foundations and nonprofits, we hope to provide an opportunity to levelset or baseline conversations at the beginning of a collaborative relationship. The result will be a scenario where resources are put to maximum use and impact amplified.
Join us in this two-part webinar series to equip your impact organization with the background and knowledge to prepare your next steps for a collaborative conversation with stakeholders and inspiration from a real example to guide you as you develop your overall strategy around collaboration and collective impact.

"Collaboration needs to be rooted in data with clearly articulated goals and staff that can collect data connecting the dots for all parties and communicating out results. Then all stakeholders have the data needed to make informed decisions together, best utilizing their individual expertise and resources.“

What Happens When You Approach Collaboration with Intention,
Part One
The secret to maximizing your impact is collaboration. Shared knowledge, combined data collection and amplified resources empower your impact organization to tackle pressing issues in your community effectively and respond to challenges quickly.
That’s why UpMetrics developed a survey to explore how foundations and nonprofits are utilizing collaboration today. We uncovered key insights that will serve as a guide for your organization as you embark on your next collaborative initiative, like the actual versus expected capacity levels, the importance of checking in throughout a program, and whether funders and grantees should be defining what success looks like together. Join UpMetrics Chief Strategy Officer Annie Rhodes on Tuesday, September 21st as she shares the top three takeaways from the recent collaboration-focused survey distributed to over 1,000 foundations and nonprofits. What Happens When You Approach Collaboration with Intention,
Part Two
The secret to maximizing your impact is collaboration. Shared knowledge, combined data collection and amplified resources empower your impact organization to tackle pressing issues in your community effectively and respond to challenges quickly.
To experience these highly beneficial outcomes of collaboration requires a strategic approach, with all stakeholders entering the situation with firm goals and expectations. This intentionality is more important to success than even the desire of both sides to drive impact when resources are scarce. As Kaci Y. Patterson highlights: “Collaboration needs to be rooted in data with clearly articulated goals and staff that can collect data connecting the dots for all parties and communicating out results. Then all stakeholders have the data needed to make informed decisions together, best utilizing their individual expertise and resources.“ Join Kaci and other partners of the Black Equity Collective in Los Angeles as they discuss the key takeaways that have led to the success of this collective impact effort. The conversation will be facilitated by Stephen Minix, Managing Director at UpMetrics and an active participant engaged across numerous LA-based nonprofits. You’ll leave this webinar with:
